SRINAGAR, June 9: The Muslim Rashtriya Manch today protested against the targeted killing of civilians in the Valley, saying that everyone has the right to live their lives freely.
Scores of party workers assembled in front of the clock tower (Ghanta Ghar) at Lal Chowk and raised slogans condemning the target killings in the Valley. They were carrying banners and placards with messages such as “Stop innocent killings” and “Stop genocide in Kashmir”.
Mohammad Afzal, the National Convenor of the Muslim Rashtriya Manch, expressed his condolences to the deceased civilians and said that such killings should not occur and everyone should be allowed to live peacefully.
“We are living in a free country, and everyone here has the right to live freely. The innocent killings should stop here so that people can live peacefully,” he said, adding that they condemn every civilian killing irrespective of their religion.
He said people and security forces should work together to make this place peaceful. “We recently celebrated our 75th anniversary of independence, and it is quite tragic that people are still in danger here,” he said.
He urged the government and security forces to take steps to end such killings so that everyone feels safe. “The people of Kashmir, like the rest of the country, have the right to live peacefully,” he said.
