JAMMU, Apr 5: Opening batsman Musaif Ajaz slammed brilliant half-century, right-arm off-spinner Praful Dhar took 6 important wickets and Harman contributed valuable 37 runs to help RCC Srinagar thrash Press Club RS Pura by 73 runs and seal berth in the quarterfinals of the ongoing Range Level Jammu T20 Cricket Tournament, being organized by Jammu and Kashmir Police at Bana Singh Stadium, RS Pura, near here.
Earlier, winning the toss and batting first, RCC Srinagar scored decent total of 144 runs in the stipulated 18 overs, losing 2 wickets in the process.
Musaif Ajaz played a magnificent innings of 59 runs off 53 balls, studded with 9 splendid boundaries, while Harman contributed 37 runs off 34 balls with the help of 6 fours. Rohan Gill unbeaten (17 runs off 12 balls), with 2 boundaries and Dikshant Kundal unbeaten (12 off 7 balls) with 2 fours, were instrumental in taking the score to 144 runs. All the batsmen were in sublime touch, especially Musaif, who hit the ball with fluid grace and utter brilliance. For Press Club RS Pura, Pankaj and Satish shared one wicket each.
In reply, RCC bowlers hit good areas and bowled with nagging line and teasing length and bundled out Press Club RS Pura for paltry 71 runs, thus helped their team to win by a huge margin of 73 runs. Sanju was the top scorer with 22 runs, while no other batsman could cross the double figure mark. Praful Dhar was the wrecker-in-chief, who spun web around the rival batsmen and plotted their collapse, scalping 6 important wickets by conceding 19 runs in his 3.3 overs, while medium pacer Sachin Sharma, speedster Aditya Pal Singh and left-arm spinner Abhinav Khajuria claimed one wicket each. Wicketkeeper Vinayak Gupta, who has always safe hands in business, played his part in the winning cause behind the stumps.
