Murder accused who jumped parole 17 years ago arrested

JAMMU, July 10: Gandhi Nagar police today arrested a murder accused, who had jumped parole granted to him in 1998 and was absconding since then i.e. for the past 17 years.
He has been identified as Anil Singh son of Sandal Singh, a resident of Shastri Nagar.
Police said the accused had murdered Rajesh Gupta son of Banarsi Dass Gupta R/o Shastri Nagar in 1991 and had been arrested. He remained in jail till 1998 under Section 302 RPC and FIR No. 586/1991 when he was granted parole.
However, he jumped the parole and went underground. He remained untraced since then.
A Gandhi Nagar police station team led by SHO Inspector Bishnesh Kumar arrested the murder accused today under the supervision of SSP Jammu Rajive Pandey, Incharge SP City (South) Uday Bhaskar Billa and SDPO Gandhi Nagar Sachin Gupta.
He will be produced before the court tomorrow.
Police said apart from the murder, the accused will now also face charge for jumping parole.
