JAMMU, June 26: In a significant decision to check level of militancy and violence in Kashmir, the Government today posted Muneer Ahmed Khan as Additional Director General of Police (DGP) Law and Order in addition to his own duties.
Presently posted as Additional DGP Home Guards and Security, Muneer Khan, an IPS officer of 1994 batch was posted as ADGP Law & Order in view of his record in anti-militancy operations and keeping the violence level down during his stint as Inspector General of Police (IGP), Kashmir zone.
He had worked as the IGP Kashmir prior to his elevation to the rank of Additional DGP and posting in Security and Home Guards.
The Government has asked both IGPs of Jammu and Kashmir Zones to report to Additional DGP Law & Order in respect of law and order matters under the overall command and control of DGP Dr SP Vaid.
