JAMMU, Feb 3: Municipal and Urban Local Bodies Pensioners Association (MULBPA), Jammu and Kashmir today highlighted its demands which include enhancement of medical allowance of pensioners of J&K from Rs 300 to Rs 1000 besides extending them benefit of Ayushman Bharat Scheme.
“Since J&K is now Union Territory and all the benefits of 7th Pay Commission viz leave and travelling allowance, children education allowance etc have been extended in favour of J&K employees at par with other union territories and Central Government employees, it is not justified to withheld the demand of enhancement of medical allowance by LG administration in favour of J&K pensioners,” said BS Jamwal, president, MULBPA in a meeting of the Association held here today.
Jamwal further appealed the LG GC Murmu to extend the benefit of Aysuhman Bharat scheme in favour of pensioners whose annual pension is less than Rs 5 lakh as poor pensioners did not have another source of income while the cost of medicines and treatment are sky high.
The speakers regretted that the Union Ministers during their outreach programme in J&K did not met with protesting employees, daily wagers, need based workers, contractual employees of various departments who are on roads since long begging for their regularization.
They said it would be better if these ministers bring a bread and butter policy from the Centre to regularize them, besides a policy to disburse minimum of Rs 5000 as pocket allowance to all educated youth till they are not observed in Government jobs.
