JAMMU, Nov 20: Mukta Theatre Arts today presented Vijay Malla’s new progressive nukkad “Beti Bachawo Aur Padawo” in collaboration with Song and Drama Division, Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Chandigarh, at Sangwal in Jammu.
The story open in a home where a woman namely Chanda is tortured by her mother-in-law for having three daughters and now as her mother in law expects a son from her, she decides to leaves her in-laws’ home for parental home.
Chanda is forced by her mother in law to visit hospital for ultrasound to detect sex of the baby in her womb, which is a crime in the eye of law. Fed up with the behavior and attitude of mother in law, Chanda decides to lodge a police complaint against mother-in-law but she is stopped by her husband ‘Ravi’ who assures her that he will convince her mother who is illiterate about the repercussions of this evil.
Finally the matter is brought before Sarpanch of the village who threatens the mother-in-law of legal action, which he said, can damage her respect and reputation in the village. Sarpanch also warns her that at any cost she should not stop studies of her daughter who has to go to another village for further studies.
The mother-in-law realizes her mistake and assures Sarpanch that in future she will not repeat such kind of attitude.
Actors who acted in the play were Kamli Devi, Qurat-ul-Ain, Raju Mad, Mohit Chargotra, Shiv Kumar, Kanav Sharma, Dheeraj Sharma and Vijay Malla. The play was written and directed by Vijay Malla.
