Mughal Road closed after fresh snowfall

POONCH, Oct 25: Mughal Road was closed for traffic after rain and fresh snowfall in higher reaches of Pir Panchal this afternoon.
Official sources said that there was rain and snowfall in Pir Ki Gali area today. About 5-6 inches of snow was witnessed at Pir Ki Gali, Poshana and Heerpora area. The road turned slippery, posing risk to the lives of road users. There after, the authorities suspended the movement of traffic on the road.
SSP Traffic, Jammu Rural, Mohan Lal Kaith said that there was fresh snowfall at Pir Ki Gali and the road turned slippery. He said after receiving information from the concerned Traffic officials deployed on Mughal Road, the movement of vehicles from Bafliaz side in district Poonch and also from Heerpora side, in Shopian towards Poonch was stopped at around 4.30 pm.
Kaith said the road will be cleared tomorrow morning, if the weather remained fair. He said about 200 to 250 vehicles were said to be stranded by late this evening on the road. Most of the light vehicles returned to Shopian and Surankote.
