SRINAGAR : Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed today issued directions to the Ladakh Affairs Department as well as District Administration, Leh, to immediately carry out assessment of damages caused due to flash floods so that a comprehensive proposal is forwarded to the Centre for seeking financial assistance for providing relief and succour to the affected families.
He also directed the authorities concerned to take all necessary restoration and rehabilitation measures as well as ensure the safety and security of the people affected by the flash floods.
Earlier, the Minister for Cooperatives, Chering Dorjey, called on the Chief Minister and apprised him about the large-scale devastation caused due to flash floods in Leh.
Incessant rains in Leh have caused flash floods tormenting people in several villages and resulting in damage to many residential houses. (AGENCIES)
