Mufti in AIIMS for 13th day

JAMMU, Jan 5: There was no improvement in the condition of Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed, who remained on ventilator in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of AIIMS, New Delhi for 13th day today.
“Line of treatment of Mufti Sayeed remained the same. Senior doctors from various departments of the AIIMS were jointly examining him,’’ official sources said.
Meanwhile, Chief Justice of India (CJI) Justice Tirath Singh Thakur today visited AIIMS to enquire condition of Mufti Sayeed.
Several senior Government representatives including Muzaffar Hussain Baig, PDP MP from Baramulla, Education Minister Naeem Akhter, Haj and Auquaf Minister Abdul Rehman Veeri, Forests Minister Bali Bhagat, Revenue Minister Javaid Mustafa Mir, PHE Minister Sukhnandan Kumar, PDP MLC Yash Sharma and others also left for New Delhi from Srinagar and Jammu to enquire condition of the Chief Minister.
Chief Secretary BR Sharma and Director General of Police (DGP) K Rajendra also left for New Delhi.
PCC (I) chief Ghulam Ahmad Mir accompanied by CLP leader Rigzin Jora and former Minister Sham Lal Sharma visited AIIMS today and enquired condition of the Chief Minister. They stayed with PDP president Mehbooba Mufti for some time and prayed for early recovery of the Chief Minister.
Meanwhile, Education Minister Naeem Akhter has dismissed rumours about PDP president Mehbooba Mufti taking over as interim Chief Minister of the state following illness of Mufti Mohammad Sayeed
“The rumours are baseless. Nothing of such measure (Mehbooba Mufti taking over as interim CM) is taking place. We expect Mufti Sahab to recover soon,” Naeem said on phone from New Delhi.
He said that budget session of the Assembly will be held as per schedule.
“Budget session of the Assembly is still away and it will be held as per schedule. Twelve days is a long time,” Akhtar said.
He said that Director General K Rajendra has his own meeting over security and Chief Secretary B R Sharma had a meeting in the Planning Department in New Delhi.
The PDP leader said the Chief Minister is showing signs of improvement. “Thank God, the treatment has shown very encouraging results. He is much better than he was two days back,” he added.
