JAMMU, Feb 3: Dr Gagan Bhagat MLA R S Pura has expressed dismay over the negligent attitude of the medical fraternity towards the patients at the Government Sub-District Hospital,R.S Pura.
He made a surprise visit to the hospital and inspected O.P.D Complex, Casualty, Casualty Ward, Ultrasound room, X-Ray Room, Laboratory, E.C.G Room, Female ward, all the wards and interacted with the patients and their attendants. When the attendents,patients and general public complained about poor treatment, the Legislator warned the staff of stern action if they neglect their duties. He said that the government was spending several Crores of rupees for providing medical facilities to the poor and needy through Nation Health Mission, the medical fraternity should not send the patients to private institutions on the pretext of non-availability of facilities in the government hospital.
Taking serious note of the unnecessary hoardings erected in the hospital premises, Dr.Gagan directed the hospital administration to clear the premises and beautify it with up-to date standards. During his surprise visit, Bhagat directed the medicos and paramedics to remain present in the hospital as per duty roaster and provide round the clock healthcare facilities to the people. He said aim of the union government is to provide hassle-free treatment facilities to the patients in the Government health institutions in Jammu & Kashmir.
Fine was imposed on two doctors and six para-medics for not sticking to the dress code, and show cause notice was issued to three doctors and Safai-Karamcharis on basis of complaints received against them and not performing cleanliness of the hospital premises properly.
Later on he interacted with the staff of the Sub-District hospital and discussed some core issues of the institution which were lingering on since years. He asked the C.M.O Jammu to visit the S.D.H R.S Pura and rectify the problems within one week.
