Mubarak Mandi Society celebrates Heritage Week

JAMMU, Nov 19: The world Heritage Week 2019 is being observed by the United Nations Education, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO) from today to November 25 across the country.
As part of this, Tourism Department in collaboration with Mubarak Mandi Jammu Heritage Society and Directorate of Archives and Museum will organise quiz and painting competitions at Mubarak Mandi Heritage Complex in which students from the schools and colleges will take part. Around 25 students from Food Craft Institute Nagrota and 25 students of Vidyapeeth Higher Secondary School took part in the heritage walk during celebrations. Slogan completion related to the encouragement of the preservation of historic heritages and monuments for the students to increase their knowledge on the cultural heritage of India planned to be organized throughout the week in collaboration with the Archeological Survey of India in the Mubarak Mandi Heritage Complex to highlight the importance of historical monuments and their preservation.
While speaking on the occasion, Deepika K Sharma, Executive Director, Mubarak Mandi Jammu Heritage Society who happens to look after Directorate of Tourism Department also highlighted the importance to raise a sense of appreciation and respect for ancient heritage sites. She further emphasized the need to spread awareness about the protection and preservation of the heritage sites. She stressed that heritage and monuments of Jammu and Kashmir are the ancient property which we must preserve and promote as tourist destination as well. People In India celebrate the World Heritage Week by symbolizing these heritages and monuments as part of the celebrations.
The objective of the celebration is to make people more aware of and also for the preservation of cultural heritage and monuments.
Dy Director , Tsering Tashi, Assistant Director, Sangeeta Sharma, Department of Archives, Archaeology and Museums, Mohammad Ayub Wani, Executive Engineer MMJHS, Munish Pandit, consultant were also present on the occasion.
