JAMMU, Dec 8: The Independent and DAP Councillors of Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) have claimed that My Town My Pride (MTMP) programme organised by the LG Administration has badly failed like the Back to Village programme for Panchayat Raj Institutions.
In a press conference here today these Councillors claimed that MTMP programme was organised in a haphazard manner having no planning and the Administration utterly failed to make it a Jan-Abhiyan (public participation) programme.
“It remained confined to employees of different departments and elected representatives only without participation of people of Urban Local Bodies,” Sham Basson, Independent Councillor said.
“MTMP programme was an eye wash that invited criticism from Councillors and people of Jammu,” he maintained adding that the memorandum submitted to visiting officer Pradeep Kumar, the then Transport Commissioner on October 19, 2020 having 14 demands saw none of the demands conceded.
Gourav Chopra, Councillor of Democratic Azad Party (DAP) claimed that LG Administration wasted huge amount on MTMP programme as nothing has resulted from it.
He said that JMC is planning to impose Property Tax on Jammuites which will not be tolerated at any cost.
S. Inder Singh Soodan, Independent Councillor said that Mayor JMC has failed to convene General House Meeting while the Mayor has promised to organise two such meetings in a month.
Independent Councillors Anu Bali, Rani Devi and Amit Gupta along with DAP Councillor Sobat Ali were also present in the press conference.
