JAMMU, Jan 20: A delegation of Motor Parts Dealers’ Association (MPDA), Transport Nagar (Narwal, Jammu) today met Chairman of J&K Pollution Control Committee (JKPCC) Vasu Yadav in his office regarding control of Air Pollution level in the Transport Nagar.
During the meeting, the delegation comprising Rajinder Parshad Kakkar (president, MPDA), Jaswinder Singh, Pardeep Sharma and Satinder Singh conveyed to the Chairman ground situation at the Transport Nagar and steps needed to be taken to control Air Pollution level and dry automobile waste.
The delegates said since the development of truck terminal by Jammu Development Authority at the Transport Nagar, neither JMC and nor JDA took care of cleanliness of this area and now the Smart City Mission Jammu is also not bothering about the health of Transport Nagar community.
“Last year, Team MPDA Jammu also attended the workshop organized by pollution control authorities along with JMC authorities. The specialists from Hyderabad also were there but nothing came out to control pollution in Transport Nagar Narwal, where the air pollution level last year was on higher than even Delhi City,” they added.
The delegation suggested a number of steps such as removing junked vehicles parked permanently in illegal way, removing unregistered roads side venders, workshops and kiosks, who have even got temporary connection from PDD Department, to control pollution in the Transport Nagar, Narwal (Jammu).
The Chairman JKPCC listened to the delegates and Chairman JKPCC issued directions to segregation agency to sent vehicle to collect the garbage from shop to shop in the Transport Nagar from Tuesday.
Member Secretary K Ramesh Kumar and Regional Director JKPCC Jammu Sat Pal were also present on the occasion.
