MP Ladakh inspects ongoing work on Nimo-Padum-Darcha Road

KARGIL June 1: During his ongoing extensive tour of various blocks of Zanskar Sub Division, Member Parliament (MP) Ladakh Jamyang Tsering Namgyal inspected the ongoing works on the Nimo Padum Darcha Road up to the last point Pharsa Phursey.
The MP was accompanied by the Chief Engineer Project Vijayak Brigadier Amit Sohal, Nominated Councillor Stanzin Chosgyal, SDM Zanskar Sonam Dorjay, BDC Chairpersons, Block President BJP Karsha and the Sub Divisional Officers.
Chief Engineer Project Vijayak informed the MP that the bridge over Zanskar River at Nerak Pulu will be launched within 15 days. He further said that the road up to Lingshed is also expected to be connected within 2 months as now only less than 2 kilometers road stretch is left incomplete.
Meanwhile, the MP also contacted the Director General (DG), BRO over satellite phone and urged upon the DG to ensure that the road up to Lingshed is connected within 2 months. He also expressed his wish to visit Zanskar through this road during his next visit to the Sub Division.
He also met people’s delegations at villages Pidmo, Zangla, Pishu, Chazar, Shiligskit, Stongday Gonpa, Stongday, Kumik and adjoining villages and after giving patient hearing to all issues and concerns raised by the people in each village assured them that all genuine demands would be considered on priority and addressed in a phased manner.
The MP assured people that requisite steps would be taken to ensure proper implementation of Centrally Sponsored Schemes like Old Age and Widow Pension, Schemes for the welfare of the specially-abled people and other related schemes in the rural and far off areas of Zanskar Sub Division.
He also assured that recruitment process of interested persons in BRO works would be facilitated provided the person willing falls under BRO labor norms.
