MP Ladakh calls on External Affairs Minister

JAMMU, Mar 13: Member of Parliament (MP) from Ladakh Jamyang Tsering Namgyal interacted with the stranded pilgrims of Ladakh in Iran through video call and listened to the grievances of the people of Leh and Kargil stranded in Iran and assured all possible support for their evacuation at the earliest possible on humanitarian grounds.
After listening to the grievances of the stranded pilgrims of Ladakh, MP JTN called on Minister of External Affairs Dr S Jaishankar and appraised the Minister about the current situations of Ladakh pilgrims in Iran and requested to evacuate the remaining pilgrims from Iran at the earliest possible and provide medical as well as other facilities to those who are still in Iran.
During the meeting, MP Ladakh convened a video call meeting of the head of the groups of stranded pilgrims with the Minister for External Affairs Dr S Jai Shankar and the group heads informed the Minister about their problems being faced by them in Iran. During the video call interaction, Minister assured them for early evacuation of all stranded pilgrims group wise and accordingly assured to arrange all possible facilities in Iran till last evacuation.
After giving a patient hearing to all the issues raised by the MP of Ladakh, the Minister assured him for his full support and directed the Embassy in Iran to provide medical as well as other required facilities to the Ladakhi Pilgrims.
Later, MP Jamyang Tsering Namgyal also interacted with the religious and political leaders of Kargil headed by Feroz Khan Chairman/CEC and Mohammad Ali Chandan, Executive Councillor Health of Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Kargil through video call and informed about the progress in ongoing evacuation and requested all the leaders to advice the group leaders as well as pilgrims to cooperate with Govt. of India for smooth evacuation at the earliest possible.
