Motorcyclist fined Rs 5500 for hiding registration number

JAMMU, Sept 27: A motorcyclist was fined Rs 5500 for hiding his registration number plate to evade traffic challans near the Ban Toll Plaza area here today.
A team of Jammu Rural Police noticed a bike with its number plate deliberately hidden with a tape near Ban Toll Plaza, a police official said.
He said, the naka personnel at Ban Toll Plaza, with the assistance of Traffic officials, chased and intercepted the vehicle.
Accordingly, the rider of the motorcycle (JK02DP-1734) was fined Rs 5500 under the provisions of the Motor Vehicles Act by the Traffic Police, he said.
Meanwhile, in a statement, the Jammu and Kashmir Police have urged the general public, especially parents to counsel their wards against indulging in such unlawful activities.
“Concealing, tampering with, or modifying number plates to avoid challans can attract heavy fines, legal action, and even seizure of the vehicle,” the police warned.
