SAMBA, Nov 9: A mother-daughter duo was among three persons killed while 15 passengers were injured seven of them seriously in a tragic road accident near Nanke Chak Samba on Jammu- Pathankot National Highway this evening.

The accident took place when a superfast bus of Jammu-Kathua route on way to Kathua hit the Uttar Pradesh Transport Corporation (UPTC) bus from rear side which was on way from Jammu to Haridwar in which three people including mother and daughter duo were killed while 15 others injured.
The accident took place when the UPTC bus which was on way from Jammu to Haridwar reached near Nanke Chak in Samba district and the driver slowed down the speed of the vehicle, it was hit by a superfast bus coming from behind at a high speed.
The impact of the accident was so high that there was a deafening sound as the Superfast Bus rammed into UPTC bus and the passengers were lying in the pool of blood. The 50 percent of the bus was totally damaged in the accident.
An atmosphere of chaos and confusion prevailed at the accident site. As the local people in the surrounding area heard the deafening sound, they came out of their houses in panic to know what has happened. The police also rushed to the spot immediately.
With the help of local people, the police shifted about 18 injured to the District Hospital Samba (DHS). At DH Samba, the doctors declared three passengers as dead and they gave first aid to seriously injured seven passengers and referred them to Government Medical College Hospital (GMCH) Jammu for specialized treatment while other eight passengers who had received normal injuries were admitted in the hospital.
Dr Bharat Bhushan, Medical Officer at District Hospital said that a total of 18 people were brought to the District Hospital Samba, out of which three people have died and seven people who have suffered serious injuries have been shifted to Medical College Jammu and the rest are undergoing treatment at District Hospital Samba. They are out of danger, he added.
The deceased have been identified as 36-year old Mangi Devi, wife of Ramesh Chand and her 13-year old daughter Tania. Both were residents of Batala Punjab and Kasturi Lal, son of Buta Ram, resident of Rajpura, Samba.
The injured have been identified as Superfast bus driver, 34-year-old Arminder, son of Bansi Lal resident of Kathua, Lovely, son of Surjit Singh resident of Pathankot, 45-year-old Madhu, and her husband Kamal Raj, both residents of Jakhbar Kathua, four year-old Bharti Devi daughter of Vinod Kumar resident of Pathankot, 52-year old Raj Kumar, son of Charan Das, resident of Shah Blore Samba and 35-year old Jagdev Singh resident of Pathankot. All these injured have been referred to Medical College and Hospital Jammu. The injured undergoing treatment in DH Samba have been identified as 45-year-old Amarjit Kaur, wife of Harvinder Singh, resident of Rajbagh Kathua, 60-year-old Darshana Devi, wife of Bishamber Das, resident of Chandigarh, 10-year-old Raman, son of Subash Chandra resident of Kathua, 32-year-old Deep Mala wife of Varinder Singh resident of Mandi Pashwalian, Samba , 38-year old Monika Jaral wife of Jatinder resident of Barwal Kathua and 40-year old Ramesh Chand, son of Vidhi Chand resident of Batala Punjab. The police have also registered a case in this regard and started investigation.
Soon after the accident, the district administration and higher officials of the police, including Deputy Commissioner, Samba, Anuradha Gupta also reached the hospital to know about the condition of the injured on the spot.
DC Samba Anuradha Gupta also announced a compensation of Rs one lakh to dead, Rs 50,000 to seriously injured and Rs 10,000 to those who have received minor injuries.
Meanwhile Lt Governor, Manoj Sinha in a tweet has expressed his profound grief over the death of three people including a child in the accident. He prayed for speedy recovery of injured.
Union Minister, Dr Jitendra Singh has also expressed his shock over the death of three passengers and injuries to 15 others in the Samba accident.
