PANAMA CITY/NEW DELHI, May 1:Minister of State for External Affairs Meenakshi Lekhi, who is on an official visit to Panama, interacted with the Indian community in the country’s capital and also visited a Hindu temple and participated in a garba dance there.
In tweets, MoS Lekhi said the Indian community in Panama plays a significant role in the Panamanian society and economy. There are around 14,000 Indians living in the Latin America and Caribbean country.

On her visit to the Hindu temple, she said: ?Had a warm welcome at the Hindu Temple in Panama. Honored to be the first Minister to visit the temple, built in 1979. Planted a sapling in the vicinity of the temple.
Glad that Indian community which came to Panama several decades ago, have maintained their ethos & culture. Shared some wonderful moments with the ladies at the Hindu Temple and joined them in a traditional Garba performance. She also participated in an International Day of Yoga event there.

On Saturday, she held talks with the Foreign Minister of Panama, Erika Mouynes and Minister of Culture, Giselle Gonzalez Villarue. She also visited the Panama Canal. (UNI)
