DHARAMSALA, Oct 10:
The mortal remains of Subedar Raj Kumar, who was killed in an encounter with militants in Jammu and Kashmir’s Budgam district, were consigned to flames at his native Khanni village in Kangra district today.
Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh, while expressing grief over the death of Kumar, said the martyr soldier laid down his life for the country.
The people would always remain indebted to him for this supreme sacrifice, he said.
The Chief Minister expressed deep sympathies with the bereaved family and prayed for the peace to the departed soul.
Kumar (47) was killed in a brief encounter with militants in the Khag area of Budgam on Sunday night. (PTI)
