JAMMU, Oct 2: As the ongoing chain hunger strike against alleged pick and choose and recent transfers of Teachers, Masters and Lecturers entered into 7th day on Sunday, more organizations have come forward extending their support to the agitating teachers.
Under the banner of Jammu Kashmir Teachers Forum, fresh batch of Masters, including Girdhari Lal, Sansar Chand, Romesh Khajuria and Bharat Bhushan Sharma sat on chain hunger strike this morning.
A number of teachers assembled at the protest dharna venue, Directorate of School Education Jammu premises and raised slogans against the Education authorities. They were demanding modification of the transfer orders, which were issued in violation of the Transfer Policy norms.
The JKTF general secretary Ganesh Khajuria addressed the protesting teachers and announced to further intensify its ongoing struggle by holding a strong protest rally on October 5 at the Directorate premises.
The gathering was addressed by Mohd Iqbal and Maheshwar Prasad of All J&K Ladakh Teachers Federation, who announced active support to the JKTF and demanded modification of the illogical transfer orders. They also demanded action against the officials who were instrumental in violation of transfer norms.
Meanwhile, Jammu Kashmir Plus 2 Lecturers Forum and All J&K ReT Teachers Forum have also extended their support to the JKTF strike against violation of transfer norms.
In a statement, Lok Sevak, district president of Plus 2 Lecturers Forum, Samba, alleged that transfer mafia was still operating in the School Education Department and this was evident from pick and choose adopted in the recent transfers of Teachers, Masters and Lecturers. He appealed the Education authorities to shun the path of confrontation with the agitating teachers and resolve their grievances.
The district Udhampur unit of JKTF has also made an appeal to the Education authorities to come forward and redress the genuine demands of the agitating teachers. However, at the same time, the district unit also appealed to all its members to participate in the purposed rally on October 5.
Meanwhile, the School Education Employees Co-ordination Committee SEECC (A) has demanded constitution of departmental enquiry committee probing the violations of transfer policy in recent transfers of Lecturers, Masters and Teachers in Jammu province.
The SEECC has also demanded cancellation of all transfer orders of Lecturers and Masters, which were done violating transfer policy.
According to Amar Nath Thakur, State chairman SEECC, more than 750 Lecturers and 3000 Masters have been transferred on pick and chose basis.
