More organizations join migrants’ protest

JAMMU, May 18: The protest demonstration held by the all party Kashmiri migrants in front  of Relief Organization entered the 4th day today with leaders of some more migrant bodies joining them.
The migrants are protesting against the attachment of DC Relief, K K Sidha on flimsy grounds by the Government which has put the functioning of the Relief Organization to grinding halt.
Those who joined the dharna today included convener Vishaw Kashmiri Pandit Conference and Mata Khirbawani Yatra Management Committee chief Kiran Wattal, All State Kashmiri Pandit Conference president advocate Ravinder Raina and his general secretary, Dr Tej Pandita. They  expressed their solidarity with the protesters and appealed the Government and Minister Relief to accede to the demand of the migrant society to relieve back the D C Relief on his earlier position so as to honour the aspirations of the Society with provision of a healthy and smooth functioning of the Relief Organization up to optimum satisfaction of the migrants and also to safeguard the common culture of the masses by giving a success to this year’s annual Yatra of Khir Bawani and Sawami Amernath Ji.
Watal appealed the demonstrators also to maintain restraint from taking any extreme step to ensure safeguard of the society and Government. He warned against any rigidity on part of Government in this regard.
The leaders of other organisations who addressed the protest included PCC Migrant Cell chief H L Pandita, M K Yogi president N C Minority Cell, Rajiv Sehgal president All Kashmiri Hindu Migrant Front, Rakesh Koul of Sampooran Kashmir, Shadi Lal Pandita co-convener PCC Migrant Cell and president Jagti Tenement Committee, Manohar Nath Pandit VC PCC Cell and its general secretary CL Kandi, leaders of Muslim migrants and others. They warned the Government of serious consequences in case the order was not revoked immediately as migrants will be forced to take extreme step. They also accused the Minister of highhandedness and ignoring the sentiments of the displaced people. They urged the entire community to come on a single platform and launch a decisive battle for restoration of its rights usurped during 28 years of exile.  Meanwhile Kashmiri Khatri Hindu Maha Sabha led by its president Ramesh Chander Mahajan also joined the dharna and extended full support to the migrants in taking present agitation to its logical conclusion.
