JAMMU, June 26: Jammu is unlikely to get reprieve from the scorching heat in next few days as there are reports of delayed and below normal monsoon this year.
According to a Met official, the monsoon arrival is likely to be late for more than a week from its schedule time of June 29. Till date, the monsoon has reached Chattisgarh State and it is likely to touch Delhi in next few days, he added.
The monsoon is likely to reach the State after 4-5 July even as pre-monsoon rains may be witnessed in Jammu and surroundings providing some relief from the scorching heat and dry spell.
There could be light rain or thundershowers in Jammu and Kashmir during the next 24 hours but during the subsequent four days, the weather will remain mainly dry in the State, the Met official informed.
Further, the Metrology Department has predicted a below normal monsoon this season thus triggering apprehension of price hike.
