Monga seeks probe into drowning of youth

SRINAGAR, Apr 13:  Vice president of PCC and MLC Ghulam Nabi Monga today  demanded a time-bound probe into the death of two youth who were drowned in river Jhelum in Bimyar, Uri on Sunday, allegedly due to unannounced release of water from a power project.
In a press statement Mr Monga said, “Government should constitute a committee to look into the incident which should file its report within a week so that the reasons behind the incident are known.”
“Those officials, found responsible for the deaths shall be punished so that such incidents aren’t repeated,” he demanded.
While expressing grief and sorrow over the incident, the Congress leader conveyed condolences to the bereaved families. He also demanded ex-gratia/compensation in favour of their families.
Meanwhile, Mr Monga visited the residence of veteran Congress leader Ghulam Rasool Kar in Sopore to convey his condolences to the bereaved family.  Mr Kar passed away on Friday.
