JAMMU, Aug 28: The residents of Mohinder Nagar today protested against the laying of wastage pipe of Chander Baga Community Hall via the lane of Mohinder Nagar saying that this will create health hazards and lead to the spread of epidemic in the area.
Taking serious exception to the laying of waste pipe of the Community Hall from the lane of Mohinder Nagar, the residents said that it will create a nuisance in the area as there is no outlet to the drain wherefrom the waste will flow.
They said entire residue like waste as well as stale food items will be thrown from this pipe which will add to the health hazards and make life of people problematic. Moreover this step can lead to spread of epidemic in the area.
In an appeal to JMC Commissioner the residents have sought his immediate intervention in the matter as the community hall falls under the jurisdiction of the civic body. The people warned that in case the work was not stopped on laying of waste pipe of the community hall from the lane of Mohinder Nagar, the people will be forced to come to streets in protest.
They said as per the Municipal Act no waste pipe of factories or industries or a community hall flowing affluent can be thrown via a residential area as such a step will endanger public health.
