Modi’s magic won’t work in J&K: Soz

Srinagar, Nov 14:  Congress today said that the “magic” of Bharatiya Janata Party  leader and Prime Minister Narendra Modi will not work in Jammu and Kashmir in the coming elections.
“I am sure that Modi’s magic will not work in Jammu and Kashmir,” Pradesh Congress Committee President Saif-u-Din Soz told reporters after paying tributes to Jawaharlal Nehru on his 125th birth anniversary.
Soz said that BJP will use every method in their book to polarize voters on religious line because “RSS is campaigning for them in election”.
“They will polarize Muslims into Shias and Sunnis. BJP is not contesting or campaigning neither in Delhi nor in Jammu and Kashmir. It is RSS that is canvassing for BJP candidates at both the places. RSS is at the forefront of campaigning in the elections,” he said.
Soz claimed that over 1000 RSS workers are campaigning secretly in Kashmir, but they will find no one here for their ideology.
“People of the Jammu and Kashmir have not lost their faith and I am sure they won’t sold it to RSS. So, RSS will have no takers here,” he said.
Soz refused to comment on the statement of the Chief Minister Omar Abdullah in which he has blamed Congress of corruption.
“I don’t feel the need to react to Omar’s statements against us. But, yes, every corrupt person should be dealt with law. From peon to Prime Minister no one is above law,” he said.
Soz said that his party will get their share of votes and “our candidates will put up a tough fight with their opponents” in the coming elections.
He said no political party can form the Government in the state on its own with entering into alliance with Congress.
“Without Congress no party would be able to form the Government in the State. And perhaps we will emerge as the largest party in elections,” he said.
On the hopping of Congress leaders, particularly former Congress leader Gharu Ram and former Deputy Chief Minister Mangat Ram Sharma, Soz said that both the leaders have lost their political ground and were no more relevant.
“Gharu Ram is not physically fit for politics now and in Assembly. What will he do in Assembly? His health doesn’t support him anymore. However, his leaving the party at this time is not the right decision,” he said.
“Mangat Ram Sharma has no more that political stature now. He is now very old and weak. He has been a Congress leader and we respect him,” he said.
Soz said that Rahul Gandhi and Sonia Gandhi will arrive in Kashmir to rally for the party’s candidates but they will not go to Ladakh.
