This refers to Modi returns with majority by Harihar Swarup (DE 27.05.2019). As PM Modi rightly said that chemistry triumphed over arithmetic, I believe next 5 years are very crucial for India. The kind of mandate Modi has been given by people makes it clear that people of the country have full faith in the policies of BJP led NDA and more particularly Narendra Damodardas Modi. It was being speculated that after demonetization a huge dent was caused to BJP, but that has proven wrong as people gave this party better mandate in 2019 Lok Sabha elections.
Now it is the time to fulfill the promises and make best use of next 5 years. For a state like Jammu & Kashmir BJP has to be more particular especially with respect to issues like development of state and curbing menace of corruption. From last 5 years the implementation of flagship schemes like Swachh Bharat Abhiyan has been very much discouraging in J&K as Rural Development Department and Municipalities have not shown better results with regard to solid waste management under SBM Gramin and Urban programmes.
Rural Sanitation Department has not executed waste management work even in one dozen village panchayats. The Governor and his Advisor need to seek an explanation from this department. Our villages and towns continue to be dirty and garbage is lying on road-sides, fields and at public places. Niti Auyog and Ministries concerned need to do a social audit of Swachh Bharat Mission and seek updates from J&K’s Chief Secretary on regular basis on waste management and issues related to sanitation and health. To get a permanent seat in UN security council (UNSC) is also a big challenge for Modi and I am sure by 2024 India would be permanent member of UNSC as Modi magic will work at international level as well.
