Azad lashed out at the Modi Government for its failure to effectively deal with Pak sponsored terrorism and lack of any clear policy towards Pakistan and China.
Talking to media-persons on the sidelines of Congress convention at Gandhi Nagar here today, Azad said during UPA Government, the BJP leadership used to call Dr Manmohan Singh Govt as most weak dispensation. “Even Modi ji on many occasions declared that 52 inch chest is needed to have courage and deal with Pakistan, China and other internal and external security situations. Now, for the last three years, the situation on borders has turned grim. The ceasefire violations are on the rise. Many innocent civilians and soldiers are being killed on borders, cattle of villagers have perished and their houses have damaged and thousands of people have been forced to leave their homes. Situation in Kashmir has also deteriorated and relations with China are also not congenial”, he added.
Launching scathing attack on Narendra Modi for his countless      foreign tours and increasing interest in America, Britain and other countries of the world, the AICC leader said Prime Minister is least bothered about what is happening in own country. He has no time for the border people who are facing Pakistani bullets  and have turned shelterless. Even he has stopped speaking on this issue. Infact, there seems this is no issue for Modi ji, Azad remarked.
Azad said he also told these things in Rajya Sabha in the presence  of Prime Minister and he had no reply. “It means he admits the facts. This Government has proved a big failure and it has no policy towards  Kashmir, China or Kashmir. Now, let the people decide which Government has proved weak, NDA or UPA,” Azad asked.
In response to a question regarding possible involvement of Rohingya Muslims from Mayanmar in Sunjuwan terror attack, Azad said so far no such incident or any inputs have been received about the direct or indirect involvement of those people.
Earlier,  addressing a largely attended Congress convention of Jammu district at Dushera Ground Gandhi Nagar Jammu today,  Azad referred to the record number of militant attacks and Pak shellings leading to heavy casualties of jawans and civilians, during the last nearly four years of Modi Government. He questioned which Government was weak–UPA or present NDA Government.
He said Prime Minister Modi has forgotten his promises to the nation on issue of safety and security of the country and he is mostly touring in the world giving his advice to other nations, instead of being concerned as to what is happening in the country on various fronts especially on the issue of security. He remained Prime Minister and BJP of taunting the UPA Government headed by Dr Manmohan Singh of being weak Government on some rare incidents of the casualties of our jawans on borders and militant attacks on our soil but now when there are series of such unabated incidents, Modi Government owes an answer to the nation.
Azad questioned who invited Pak PM on oath ceremony and exchanged shawls, who went to Lahore amidst continued incidents of border firing and militant attacks and who shared “Biryani” etc. Azad took shots on the Prime Minister Modi’s policy towards Pakistan. He also said that when Prime Minister Modi was engaged in “Jhula diplomacy” with Chinese counterpart, the Chinese Army was busy entering territory in Doklam.
The AICC leader said that the BJP has forgotten all other promises made to the various sections of the people during elections and now looking for other issues to polarize and divide the society as the general elections are drawing near. He said Modi Government is not concerned about the gruesome incidents of rape reported regularly and atrocities on the Dalits and others in the name of religious beliefs by fake and false allegations etc. The farmers are committing  suicides in large numbers as they are not getting the adequate price of their produce, the unemployed youth are fed up as the promised two crore jobs annually are nowhere, as around 4.5 lakhs jobs were provided so far by NDA Government, the demonetization has badly affected the common man and small and medium scale business class due to the poor and faulty economics policies of the Government.
Azad also referred to the unprecedented price hike which has broken the backbone of the poor and common man. He reminded that BJP stalwarts now in the Cabinet would protest on streets over nominal hike of essential commodities but now the prices of LP Gas  and other items of common use have touched sky, they are silent.
He accused the BJP of emotionally exploiting the people during the last Lok Sabha and Assembly elections in the State on the name of religion and region besides painting the Congress party as a “Villain”, regretting that the party (Congress) which has a history of sacrifices during the freedom struggle and for the unity and integrity of the country, was presented as enemy of nation by the BJP before elections.
Earlier, Azad paid rich tributes to those martyred in the Sunjwan militant attack and conveyed sympathies with their families. He lauded the jawans for eliminating terrorists at the cost of their lives. He also enquired about the condition of the injured in the hospital in the morning. He was accompanied by CLP Leader Rigzin Jora and former Ministers Sham Lal Sharma and GM Saroori.
PCC chief GA Mir lashed out at the BJP Government at the Centre and PDP-BJP Government in the State for their total failure to ensure the safety and security of the people in the State besides failures of various fronts.
Expressing grave concern over the continued militants attacks within the state and Border shelling in the recent years of their rule, Mir described the present Centre and State Governments as total failure on security fronts. The increased casualties of forces and civilians in recent pasts is matter of great concern and questioned the policy of Modi Government.
Senior vice-president Sham Lal Sharma lashed out at the BJP for its fake slogans and unfulfilled promises in the power. BJP has forgotten its promises for the sake of power after exploiting the people on various emotional issues but failed in delivery.
Former Minister and PCC  vice-president Raman Bhalla lambasted the BJP for its total failure to ensure the safety and security of the people in the State and are badly exposed for their surrender for the sake of power.
A resolution was presented by PCC chief spokesperson  Ravinder Sharma on behalf of the entire rank and file of the party strongly condemning the fidayeen attack in Sunjuwan, expressing shock over the casualties of jawans and civilians and paying tributes to the martyrs in this attack and series of attacks and Pak shelling.
