SAMBA, Apr 1: Former Minister and Jammu Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) general secretary, Manjit Singh, today accused the State as well as Union Government of diluting laws which was made for protecting Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes in Jammu and Kashmir.
Addressing the party workers here at Vijaypur during a monthly meeting, Manjit Singh expressed serious concern over the treatment met to the downtrodden section of society even as they are provided protection under the Constitution of India as well as State.
“The court as well as the BJP Government in Jammu and Kashmir and in the Centre is trying to dilute the laws which were created for the protection of SC/ST/OBC people,” he alleged. He further said that whether it is SC/ST Atrocity Act or any other law, the Government is trying to dilute the constitutional rights using courts.
The situation in the country is not good as being projected by the ruling rightwing political party, he cautioned and said that the people are facing the brunt of price rise of petrol/diesel, which is highest under Modi Government.
The JKPCC general secretary said that the present Government’s policy has demoralized the downtrodden section of society and created a divide in the social fabric. ‘In Kashmir militancy is on rise and unemployed youth are frustrated with hollow promises made by the incumbent Government”, he added.
