ANANTNAG, Nov 29: MP Rajya Sabha, Er Gulam Ali Khatana today said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi is committed to bring in an era of peace and development and rebuild a Naya Jammu and Kashmir.
Addressing an impressive gathering at Kokernag in South Kashmir today, he alleged that two families in Jammu and Kashmir destroyed the erstwhile State and built only their own empires while Prime Minister Narendra Modi has vowed to rebuild a Naya J&K which is free of corruption and dynastic politics.
“Jammu and Kashmir is rich in natural resources including water and minerals and we have a potential of generating more than 25,000 MW of electricity yet we are facing power crisis. The potable drinking water is still a distant dream in many of the areas, though Central Government has been pumping in billions of rupees in the erstwhile State,” he said alleged all these funds were earlier gobbled up by the dynastic leaders and their cohorts.
Khatana said that the Central Government has now started to bring in accountability and transparency in the public life and dynasts are facing the heat from both public and the Government. “These parasites spent exchequer’s money worth crores on bedsheets and carpets and swindled the funds of Jammu and Kashmir Cricket Association as their personal property, but everything will be accounted for and dynasts would face the wrath of law,” he assured.
The BJP MP said that Government has gone tough against Pakistan sponsored terrorism and results are encouraging. Youth are now indulging in productive activities while stone pelting incidents have become negligible and tough action is being taken against anti-social elements, he added.
Prominent among others, who spoke on the occasion, included Sheikh Bashir, Choudhary Roshan Hussain, Sajad Hussain, Manzoor Khan, Lal Hussain Lodha, Nazir Ganie, Dr Amin, Mushtaq Ahmad Khanday, Imran Rasool, Bilal Ahmad and Mushtaq Ahmad.
Advocate Sayeed Wajahat, BJP district president Anantnag, Aabid Hussain Nengroo, youth leader, Ab Majeed Hajam, District secretary and others were present on the occasion.
