KUPWARA: Minister for Rural Developmet, Panchayat Raj, Law and Justice Abdul Haq today conducted an extensive tour of Lolab constituency and laid foundation stone of Divar Model Village.
The Minister was accompanied by Member Parliament Mir Fayaz along with other senior officers of the district.
Speaking on the occasion Minister said the Divar village will be developed as a model village in real sense and not for the sake of it. He said in past there was a trend of announcing model villages and it would not bring a visible improvement in the village.
He said Rs 15.10 crores will be spend in Divar village to make it a model village. He said under the program, the village will be developed on modern lines with better roads, basic amenities and better schools.
Abdul Haq said the Model Villages announced by the government will be a sustainable rural community that will be able to generate and maintain the resources necessary to improve its level of wellbeing and happiness without depleting economic, social & environmental values. He said in doing so, the Model Villages will strengthen the sustainability pillars of Livelihood, Infrastructure and Services.
He said by taking benefits of all the state and centrally sponsored schemes, the model villages will be developed on modern lines without disturbing the environment of the village.
While interacting with the locals, Minister said the present government is committed to provide all basic facilities to the people living in far-flung areas of the state while the developmental schemes are being implemented as per the aspirations of the people.
Refereeing to the development of the Lolab constituency the Minister said that an amount of 36 crores are being incurred on the execution of 4 road projects under CRF and PMGSY, while under skill development programme Rs.16 crores are being kept available for the 1.25 lakh youth for undergone skill and different trades training, under UMEED/NRLM scheme the ladies are being provided financial soccer for the self employment system so that they could be able to earn livelihood.
He directed the District Development Commissioner, Kupwara to monitor the overall schemes to be implement by the rural development department and its allied sectors.
He also impressed upon the people to look after the works carried out by the different executing agencies in the district especially in the Lolab constituency and said that 11 Model villages are being set up in the district with all latest basic amenities for the inhabitants within the projects.
The Member Parliament Mir Fayz also speak on the occasion and impressed upon the people to provide all possible support to the collation partners for maintaining peace and tranquility in the state for development process started by the present government for overall development of the state.
The District Development Commissioner G.M Dar, SSP Kupwara Shamsheer Husain, district and Sectoral officers were also present on the occasion.
