UDHAMPUR, Aug 7: Status of ordinary Government schools across Jammu and Kashmir can be gauged from the fact that even some Model Higher Secondary Schools are headless and without adequate teaching staff.
Model Higher Secondary School Panchari is one such school, which is being run without a Principal while a number of posts of Lecturers and Masters are lying vacant since long.
Up in arms against the non-serious attitude of the School Education Department in this regard, locals of Panchari today held a protest demonstration under the leadership of Jaswant Singh, block president of National conference.
According to the protesting villagers, the said school was upgraded as Higher Secondary School in the year 1985 but adequate teaching staff was never provided there even after declaring it as Model school. “Due to the shortage of teaching staff, the students are facing manifold problems to get their queries solved pertaining to their subjects and during this COVID time, no online classes are being organized by the school as posts of Lecture in Zoology, Economics, Maths, History and two Masters as well Physical Teacher are lying vacant since long,” they said.
There are around 600 students in this school and maximum of them belong to BPL category. The matter was repeatedly brought into the notice of School Education authorities but no step was taken to depute the Principal and adequate teaching staff there.
According to Director School Education, Anuradha Gupta, she had taken up the matter & immediate solution would be provided for the online classes while the Administrative Department has to take the call in respect of posting of Principal.
The protest demonstration was joined by Suman Devi, Parkash Singh, Sat Pal Singh, Baldev Singh, Karnal Singh, Jagdev Singh, Pritam Singh, Parshotam Lal and others.
