Man dies as throat slits with Chinese thread

JAMMU, Aug 7: A man died when his throat slit with Chinese thread (gattu) while he was riding a two wheeler in Qasim Nagar area here today evening.
As per police sources, the deceased has been identified as Sikander Ali Khan, son of Late Nissar Hussain of Rajiv Nagar.
“His throat was slit and he was seriously injured”, sources said, adding that the man was going to drop his sister-in-law.
He was rushed to Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH), where doctors declared him as brought dead. His sister-in-law escaped unhurt in the accident, sources informed.
The family alleged that despite ban by the District Administration, Chinese thread “‘gattu” is openly being sold in the market on Raksha Bandhan and ahead of Janamashtmi
“If administration has already banned this thread then why is it being sold,” they said and alleged that police reportedly in their respective jurisdictions were allowing the traders to sell this banned thread, claiming human lives.
However, a case under relevant Sections has been registered at Bagh-e-Bahu Police Station and investigation started.
