JAMMU, Apr 27: The exuberance of Spring Festival was spread in the ambience of MIER when Model Academy hosted the Inter School Group Song Competition titled,’Bahaar’ in HL Gupta Auditorium, here.
Parul Khajuria, Cultural Officer, Information Department, Jammu was the chief guest on the occasion, while Dr Adit Gupta, Director MIER was the guest of honour. Other dignitaries present were Rupa Gupta, Joint Director MIER, PK Srivastava, Principal, JK Dhiman, Vice Principal and heads of various departments.
The competition witnessed an extensive array of participation from eleven top leadings schools of Jammu.
It was a treat to the ears to hear the melodious voices of the talented budding singers. The mellifluous voices of the participants enthralled the audience and the judges. The singers sang with confidence and spread an aura of pleasant harmony which captivated the overfilled auditorium.
The panel of judges adjudicating the competition were Brij Mohan, noted musician, lyricist and poet, Prof Kailash Mehra, retired HoD Department of Music, MAM Collage and a renowned singer and Prof Jasmeet Kaur, versatile singer, Department of Music, GCW, Parade. The judgement was done on the basis of Swar, Taal, Coordination and Presentation.
Speaking on the occasion, Parul Khajuria said that she was mesmerized by melodious voices and talent of the students.
She further mentioned that schools must come forward and showcase the rich heritage, culture, customs and traditions of J&K state and should appreciate its diversity.
The first prize was bagged by GD Goenka School followed by MV International School and Jodhamal Public school winning second and third prizes respectively.
The consolation prize went to Jammu Sanskriti School (Jammu).
All the schools received certificates of participation by the chief guest.
Dr Arun Gupta and Renu Gupta, Chairman and Vice Chairperson MIER congratulated all the winners and participants on the occasion.
The programme was compeered by Mehroosh, while Akshita Sharma welcomed all the guests and the students. Vote of thanks was proposed by Marushika.
