This refers to editorial Govt makes mockery of state awards (DE 25.01.2020). I do agree that not even a single function has been held during last many decades to confer the state awards to people from different walks of life especially meritorious Govt officers
In addition to this, state awards have been conferred to some corrupt and incompetent Government officers as well during past as there is no independent body which could make selections for these awards.
The awardee list has always been prepared by officers of General Administration Department (GAD) and during last 15 years i have observed one or two officials from GAD or at least one or two IAS officers being conferred this award every year ? This is complete mockery indeed. Does this mean that officials from Health , PHE , Revenue , PWD , Rural Development & many other departments don’t do exemplary work at all ?
