JAMMU, Sept 22: To make itself fully prepared to deal with any emergent situation, a mock drill was jointly today conducted by Railway, National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and civil authorities.
An accident site was created at Shakurbasti Railway Station, where derailment has been done.
Station Superintendent, Shakurbasti reported to Railway Control Office, 112 and 1077 that coach no. 99421/ WGSCN (2ndfrom loco) of train no. 04090 (HSR- NDLS Exp.) had derailed and capsized with front SLR and 3rd coach from loco while entering in Shakurbasti yard and side collided with NMG rake, pushing back on adjacent line, resulting in major injury to passengers.
Railway Control Office immediately informed to officials of Self- Propelled Accident Relief Medical Van (SPARMV), Accident Relief Train (ART), Railway Protection Force (RPF) and Government Railway Police (GRP), NDRF and Civil Authorities to attend the derailment site.
Sukhvinder Singh, Divisional Railway Manager Delhi, Dimpy Garg Principal Chief Safety Officer Northern Railway, Sr. Divisional Safety Officer and other officers also reached the accident site immediately.
At first the rescue teams of NDRF & Civil defence entered in the capsized coach and started their evacuation options. First aid was given inside the coach to passengers wherever possible.
ART and NDRF teams adopted cold cutting/ abrasive cutting methods to make way to evacuate passengers.
Medical team-maintained list of injured passengers with their condition of injuries, and details of Hospitals where they were sent for further treatment, a slip of name and details of patient was provided in the pocket of each and every injured passenger for their identification, at the time of giving first aid or while sending to hospital.
