SRINAGAR, Nov 29: A mob today damaged portion of railway track at Naina village of Pulwama district after trial run of train to Banihal from Budgam for the first time since unrest started in Kashmir valley.
Sources said as part of trial, the train on Banihal-Baramulla track started running from Budgam to Banihal and on reaching Naina in Pulwama, it caught the attention of local protesters, who instantly gathered and resorted to stone-pelting on security forces deployed for the safety of train.
The mob after indulging in heavy stone-pelting also damaged the railway track up to 1.5 kilometers. As a result, the train after coming from Banihal made a halt at Bijbehara till late evening. It was only after the hectic efforts of Railway Department officials, that the damage was repaired and the train went back to Budgam.
