KISHTWAR, Oct 4: Expressing concern over ignoring residents of Chenab Valley in providing jobs in the hydro-electric projects to be started in this region, senior PDP leader and Member of the Legislative Council (MLC) Sayeed Asgar Ali, warned that neglecting this region would prove counter productive for the authorities concerned.
He especially mentioned that corporate office of the Chenab Valley Project Corporation Limited (CVPCL), which has been assigned the job to construct Hydro-electric projects in Chenab Valley has ignored this region while opening its office. He said that corporate office should be opened in some where in Chenab valley and Kishtwar was the most suitable place for it.
Sayeed Asgar Ali said that priority should be given to locals in employment in these projects. He further said that local youth should be trained so that they could be recruited in these projects as skilled labourers.
Besides giving employment to the locals, free electricity should also be given to the people of erstwhile Doda district because they have first right on the water flowing from their area, MLC urged.
