MLC, VC JU call on Governor

JAMMU, Dec 26: Dr. Syed Bashir Ahmad Veeri, MLC, called on Governor N.N. Vohra at Raj Bhavan today.
Dr. Veeri discussed with the Governor the varied serious problems which relate to ensuring environmental protection in the State which has a fragile bio-diversity. He also spoke about the fast advancing threats which emanate from the phenomenon of climate change and global warming.
The Governor mentioned the few steps in this regard which had been initiated by the SKUAST-Kashmir and suggested to Dr. Veeri the usefulness of a planned consultation being organized for involving all concerned authorities to enlarge awareness of the time bound measures which need to be urgently implemented to mitigate the awaiting disasters.
Professor MPS Ishar, Vice Chancellor, Jammu University also called on Mr Vohra, who is Chancellor of the University.
Professor Ishar briefed the Governor about the to date status of the preparations which are ongoing in the University for hosting the 101st Session of the Indian Science Congress which will be held on  February 3-7, 2014. He also briefed the Governor about the projects undertaken by the University Administration for infrastructure up gradation within the campus.
Navin K. Choudhary, Principal Secretary to the Governor, was present in the meeting.
