JAMMU, Apr 30: Expressing gratitude to the present dispensation for initiating various people friendly measures in a short span of time, Member Legislative Council Firdous Tak today called on Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti and highlighted various issues confronting people of Chenab region, especially Kishtwar district.
The MLC welcomed the Govt’s move to establish saffron village in Kisthwar, expedite work on the proposed Pakal Dool Hydel Project and Rs 90 crore project to repair and upgrade Batote-Kishtwar-Sinthan National Highway (1B).
Highlighting various demands, Tak apprised the CM about the need to start work on Pakal Dool and Rattle hydro electric projects, creations of tourism related infrastructure at Paddar, Marwah, Warwan, Doda and Gool. He said that the area has been traditional route for mountaineering and hiking and it was need of the hour that fresh initiatives be taken to highlight adventure tourism potential of the area.
He said that class work be started in the proposed Nursing College at Kishtwar, which will boost the skill development initiatives of the Government. The MLC further apprised the Chief Minister about growing demand to hold NHPC accountable for the local area development. He said that NHPC was earning crores from the Dul Hasti Power Project but in return it was taking cosmetic measures under Corporate Social Responsibility. It was decided in the previous DDB meeting that NHPC will make its hospital fully functional in the area besides initiating other welfare measures, however, till date nothing has been done.
The other issues which were highlighted included construction of Singpora-Vailoo tunnel, establishment of Additional Block at Distt Hospitals Kishtwar and Doda, early start of work on Patimhala-Dachan-Marwah road, creation of AD, CAPD Post for Marwah-Dachan-Warwan, separate Education Zone for Dachan, special plan for town upgradation for Kishtwar, Bhaderwah, Doda, Ramban and Banihal towns.
