MLAs review development, restoration works in Udhampur

UDHAMPUR, June 3: Members of the Legislative Assembly from District Udhampur today chaired a district-level appraisal and monitoring meeting with officers of various line departments to review the progress of ongoing development projects and restoration works across the district.
The meeting was attended by MLA Udhampur West Pawan Kumar Gupta, MLA Chenani Balwant Singh Mankotia, MLA Udhampur East Ranbir Singh Pathania, MLA Ramnagar Dr. Sunil Bhardwaj, Additional District Development Commissioner Jugal Kishore, Chief Planning Officer Uttam Singh and senior officers from concerned departments.
The MLAs conducted a constituency-wise review of developmental and restoration works being executed across the district. They also assessed damages caused by floods and landslides during August-September 2025 and reviewed the status of restoration measures undertaken in the affected areas.
The review covered constituency-wise damage assessment, physical and financial progress of works, fund utilisation under SDRF, UT Capex Budget, SASCI and Constituency Development Fund schemes, as well as the current status of ongoing projects and challenges in their execution.
The MLAs also undertook a department-wise review of restoration activities and sought updates on division-wise assessment of damage to roads, bridges and other public infrastructure. They also reviewed the progress of permanent restoration projects and examined the pace of work by executing agencies.
Emphasising the need for timely completion of all projects, the MLAs directed concerned departments and executing agencies to accelerate work and ensure that restoration projects are completed at the earliest to restore connectivity and provide relief to the public. They also instructed officers to remove bottlenecks hindering project execution and ensure optimum utilisation of available funds.
Stressing accountability, transparency and quality in developmental works, the MLAs called for strict adherence to prescribed timelines and urged officers to conduct regular field inspections for effective monitoring. They emphasised the importance of coordinated inter-departmental efforts for efficient implementation of development and restoration works for the benefit of the people of Udhampur district.
