UDHAMPUR, Aug 30: Nephew of Member Legislative Assembly (MLA) has been suspended, for attacking a BBA student of Government Degree College, Udhampur with an iron rod and injuring him seriously.
Police spokesman said that, nephew of MLA Balwant Singh Mankotia namely Lavdeep Mankotia entered into verbal dual with Gourav Sharma, son of Des Raj, resident of Subash Nagar, Udhampur, and attacked the latter with an iron road, injuring him seriously.
Gourav was shifted to District Hospital Udhampur, where he was undergoing treatment and his condition was stated to be stable, when last reports came in, spokesman added.
A case under relevant sections has been registered, the accused student Lavdeep has been arrested and investigation started.
Meanwhile, when contacted Dr Nutan Kumar Resutra, Principal, Government Degree College, Udhampur, told Excelsior that the college administration has taken a serious note of this and suspended the nephew of local MLA with immediate effect.
“I have forwarded the report of the whole episode to the Disciplinary Committee of the College and the committee will take the final decision”, Principal, added.
