JAMMU, May 10: MLA, Jammu West, Sat Sharma today inaugurated model laboratories and library with internet facility in the Higher Secondary School, Rehari, as a part of the Model School initiative of the Government.
A small function was organized in the school, which was also attended by District Development Commissioner, Jammu, Simrandeep Singh; Director School Education, Smita Sethi and Additional District Development Commissioner, Jammu, Anuradha Gupta.
Physics, Chemistry and Biology laboratories and an internet equipped library with modern architecture and furnishings were dedicated by the MLA to the students. Taken up by the Jammu administration as a part of the decision of District Development Board in the year 2015-16, the entire infrastructure has been created at an estimated cost of Rs 30 lakh, which has been mainly funded through the CDF of MLA West (Rs 20 lakh), as a part of his commitment to the Model School initiative and partly through the district plan of Education sector (Rs 10 lakh).
Speaking on the occasion, the MLA appreciated the efforts of the entire team of administration including the District Development Commissioner; Additional District Development Commissioner; Government Architect, Devender Gupta and X-En (R&B), U K Sharma, for completing the work in a planned and timely manner.
The Deputy Commissioner, Jammu thanked the MLA for his generous contribution towards the project that led to its early completion. Principals of all Higher Secondary Schools of Jammu West Constituency were present on the occasion.
It is pertinent to mention here that a team comprising of District Development Commissioner, Jammu, Simrandeep Singh; Director School Education, Jammu, Smita Sethi; Additional District Development Commissioner, Jammu, Anuradha Gupta; Government Architect, Devender Gupta and Executive Engineers of Division 1, 11 and Ill, jointly visited and studied the designs of laboratories and library in Jodhamal Public School and Heritage School to prepare a model proto type/design for eight Government Schools (in different Constituencies) viz., Higher Secondary School, Mubarak Mandi; Higher Secondary School, Chakroi; Higher Secondary School, Rehari; Higher Secondary School, Arnia; Higher Secondary School, Pallanwala; Higher Secondary School, Domana; Higher Secondary School, Akhnoor and Higher Secondary School, Nagrota.
The entire project is proposed to be funded from the Education Department (both district and State sectors) and Rs 80.00 lakhs from the CDF of different MLAs. The HDFC Bank has also committed to participate in the project.
