Jammu, Mar 10: During his meetings with Deputy CM – Nirmal Singh, Education Ministers – Naeem Akhter & Priya Sethi and Health Minister – Lal Singh, BJP MLA Reasi, Ajay Nanda, submitted separate Memorandums to them and raised the public interest issues relating to Reasi Constituency.
Reasi Constituency has been constantly neglected by the past Governments in the development works even though two world famours shirnes of Mata Vaishno Devi and Shivkhori are situated in this constituency which are backbone of Jammu province tourism and economy, the MLA said in his memorandum.
The issues related to PDD included 132KV Grid Station at Reasi, early start of construction at the Sawalkot Project, improvement of HT/LT lines and upgrading of existing Transformers, new schemes for electrification of un-electrified areas, electrification of Shivkhori route and Domel to Katra Road, which will be a milestone to attract and increase the tourism in the State.
The issue of Salal Project electricity was also raised. Salal project is in full operation and the Reasi population has no benefit from the electricity generated there, despite setting up of this project in their area and using their natural resources. The J&K Government should raise this issue with the Central Government to rectify this anomaly or provide extra electricity to Reasi from the J&K share of royalty received from the NHPC so that local population can rightfully get the benefit of this project.
The issues related to Health Department included filling all vacancies of doctors and para medical staff necessary for efficient functioning of Reasi District Hospital and all PHC & health care units, provide C.T. Scan/ MRI facilities and adequate ambulances for the smooth functioning of the Reasi District Hospital. In addition to some departments that are already functioning in old building of Reasi District Hospital this hospital should be upgraded to full-fledged maternity and PHC Hospital, upgrading Pouni PHC to Sub District Hospital, provide 24/7 medical facilities at Ransoo & Shivkhori and upgrade the existing health facilities and provide new health care units in the areas still deprived of the basic medical facilities.
