RAMNAGAR, Apr 5: Ranbir Singh Pathania, MLA Ramnagar, has vouched for granting of a full-fledged district status to Ramnagar.
While addressing a large gathering of civil society members hailing from all walks of life including traders, social, political and religious organizations, here at Town-Hall Ramnagar, he said that being the oldest, largest and one of the poorest tehsils in the State, which once used to be a separate State known as “Kingdom of Bandralta”, Ramnagar is having distinct identity, culture, language, attire, feeding habits etc.
Now at present, 3 Sub-Divisions namely Ramnagar, Dudu and Basantgarh, 4 Tehsils Ramnagar, Basantgarh, Majalta and Latti; and 9 Niabats having been carved out of it, as such, fully qualifies for creation of a separate administrative entity i.e, full -fledged district status for Ramnagar.
He said that setting up of ADC offices at various other places neglecting the Ramnagar has fuelled up a sort of discontentment among the public and they have been let down.
Pathania informed the gathering that he has taken up the issue of granting full fledged district status to Ramnagar with the Committee notified by Jammu and Kashmir Government for creation of administrative units and is hopeful for a positive response from the Government side very soon. A full fledged district for Ramnagar will help in percolating the governance to the lowest level thus elevating the socio-economic status of the common man, he added.
Earlier in the day, Pathania met the members of Bar Association Ramnagar who are sitting on a strike demanding setting up of Additional Sessions Court at Ramnagar and granting of a district status to Ramnagar.
Pathania, while interacting with Bar members, said that he fully endorses the demands of Bar and has already taken up the matter with the Government regarding setting up of a sessions court at Ramnagar.
Later, Pathania convened a monthly Janta Darbar cum officers-public meeting at Ramnagar to take a first hand review of the problems faced by the public. He informed that process of establishment of Kendriya Vidyalya at Ramnagar has been initiated a Model Higher Secondary School has come up at Ramnagar while HSS Basantgarh and HSS Majalta will be developed as model institutes of par excellence.
