MLA kick-starts work on macadamization of Salmeri road

UDHAMPUR, Dec 19: Fulfilling a long pending demand of residents of Salmeri area, MLA Udhampur Pawan Kumar Gupta today kick-started the macadamization work of two kilometre badly damaged Salmeri road at an estimated cost of Rs 60 lakh.
While addressing the gathering of locals on this occasion, Pawan Gupta said that the work of laying bitumin on Salmeri main road has been started and in the next phase construction of the connectivity corridors will be undertaken. Gupta said during his tenure all the roads will be completed and Farna-Magiote road has been tendered on which the work will start soon.
In addition to this, Pawan Gupta on the spot instructed the officials of the department concerned to fill the potholes of Valli and Toph. He said that even 10 percent of macadamization was not done in the last 12 years in comparison what has been done during his tenure of less than three years.
Regarding scarcity of water faced by the locals, the MLA said that very soon a tank of twenty-five thousand gallons will be constructed in their area, so that their water problem is resolved to a great extent. In addition to this, Gupta gave the instructions for construction of four rooms in Higher Secondary soon and instructed the JE of the Rural Development Department to make estimates for making a playground and path in the school.
Apart from this, Pawan Gupta urged the people to change their perspective and leave the space for widening of roads and construction of lanes to avoid congestion of roads due to jams.
Earlier, local Sarpanch Munshi Ram Sharma said that this road was blacktopped about 14 years ago by than MLA Udhampur Late Lala Shiv Charan Gupta. Since then the road was never repaired and no blacktopping was done with the result that it was not possible to ply vehicles on it due to dilapidated condition of this road, he added. The Sarpanch also highlighted some other local demands
On this occasion, AEE Aftab Ahmed, AE Krishna Gopal, JE Kulbhushan Sharma, Raj Kumar Bucha, Gopal Sharma, Paras Ram Verma, Premchand Bhagat, Ram Charan, Krishna Padha, Mansa Ram, Ram Das Bhagat and others were present.
