MLA inaugurates multiple development works in Nagri

KATHUA, May 26: Member Legislative Assembly Kathua, Dr Bharat Bhushan today inaugurated multiple developmental works in Nagri area aimed at improving civic infrastructure and providing better facilities to the local residents.
The works inaugurated included two culverts on Nikkian- Nagri road, a lane in Municipal Committee, Nagri wards No 7, and a drainage work in Ward No 5 Nagri. All these three works have been undertaken at a cost of Rs 15 lakh to strengthen road connectivity and improve drainage facilities.
The locals showed to MLA houses of seven families which were damaged during floods of August 2025 and have not been provided any relief to undertake repair and reconstruction. MLA after visiting each house assured that all these families will be assisted under PMAY pattern after ascertaining eligibility from concerned Departments.
While interacting with the residents, Dr. Bharat Bhushan said that the overall development of Kathua constituency remains his top priority and every effort is being made to ensure that basic amenities reach every ward and village. He emphasized that improved infrastructure not only benefits daily commuters but also enhances the quality of life for the local population.
During the visit, Mandal president, Nagri Ravi Andotra, former Mandal president, Nagri Arpan Verma, former president, Nagri Municipal Committee, Anil Singh, former president, Nagri Municipal Committee, Shashi Kanta, Rakesh Saini, Shobha Gupta, Capt. (retd) Pawan, Sunny Kajotra, a large number of local residents and prominent citizens welcomed the MLA and appreciated the ongoing developmental initiatives being taken up in the constituency.
Dr. Bharat Bhushan also listened to public grievances and demands raised by the people on the occasion. The residents apprised him of various local issues related to roads, drainage, water supply, and other civic amenities. The MLA assured the public that all genuine demands would be taken up with the concerned departments for early redressal.
