UDHAMPUR Feb 11: A block level Kissan Mela was organized by Department of Agriculture Udhampur at village Ritti today under the Centrally Sponsored Scheme “Support to State Extension Reforms” ATMA under the guidance of Director Agriculture, Ajay Khajuria and District Development Commissioner, Udhampur, P.K. Pole who is also chairman of ATMA Governing Board.
MLA Udhampur, Balwant Singh Mankotia inaugurated the Kissan Mela.
While speaking on the occasion, Mr. Singh applauded the efforts of the Agriculture Department and said that these Kissan Melas are the need of the hour to apprise the farming community regarding the ongoing schemes and level of subsidy available with the departments.
He said that rural areas in the district are being primarily agriculture based and the farmers should take the advantage of these camps and adopt all the technical know-how imparted by the various departments in their fields to uplift their economic status.
Chief Agriculture Officer, K.S. Sambyal in his welcome address said that the convergence of all the stake holders under the one umbrella will act as a platform to work out the future course of action for increasing the production and productivity level of farming community and raise their socio-economic status and to make the agriculture profession more lucrative. He advised the farmers to take full benefit of these Melas and do agriculture as per the needs of the market.
Later, the MLA distributed Kissan Credit and Women Health Insurance Cards among the farmers.
Chief Animal Husbandry Officer, Uma Kant Sharma, Deputy Director Sericulture, Ashwani Kumar, D.A.O (Extn.), V.K. Bhardwaj, A.D.O, L.C. Bhagat, District Level SMS, Sub Division Agriculture Officer Udhampur, Sarpanchs, Panchs, officers of other departments and large number of farmers were the part on occasion.
