RAMNAGAR, Feb 20: MLA Ramnagar R S Pathania conducted a two-day tour of Dudu- Basantgarh area and inspected public works and projects besides taking a firsthand overview of the public issues related to drinking water, electricity, road connectivity, healthcare, education facilities etc.
Pathania directed line officers as well as different departments to ensure maximum presence in far flung and neglected areas of Ramnagar. He further exhorted the people to maintain better liaison with official machinery and try to get maximum benefits out of public welfare schemes and programmes.
While acceding to the decades-old, overweening demand of public of the area, the MLA flagged off daily bus service from Basantgarh to Jammu. The said bus-service shall ply daily from Basantgarh to Jammu and Jammu to Basantgarh enabling the people as well as employees to avail of qualitative public transport facility.
While addressing a largely attended Janta Darbar at Basantgarh, he called for connecting of Basantgarh-Khaned road to Macchedi/Lohai-Malhar in Kathua district and expediting work on Dudu to Kailash road thereby creating an effective road-links for the peoples of three districts separated from each other by geographical barriers.
The people of the area demanded upgradation of PHC Basantgarh to a full-fledged CHC. They also demanded a fresh CHC at Dudu and allopathic dispensaries for Punara, and Charri Bangla.
Pathania made a fervent appeal to the Chief Minister to initiate recruitment drives in Basantgarh, Khaned, Ponara, Pachound, Balota, Garh Samna Banj, Jophar and other far-flung areas of Ramnagar and Majalta tehsil. With a view to coping with the all-pervasive problem of unemployment in the area already stricken by vast terrain, hilly topography, militancy-infested conditions, administrative neglect and acute penury of the people living over there, Police recruitment drives are the need of the hour, he added.
