MLA commissions power transformers in Ramban villages

JAMMU, Feb 22: In a spree of inaugurations, MLA Ramban, Ashok Kumar, today commissioned 25 KVA transformers under the Rajiv Gandhi Grameen Vidyutikaran Yojna (RGGY) at four remote and backward villages of his constituency, which fall in Doda.
During the first leg of his three-day rigorous trekking tour of six panchayats situated in the difficult hilly terrain, Ashok accompanied by Incharge Block president, Congress (INC) of Dessa and Kastigarh blocks, Abdul Gani Bhat, Sarpanch, Upper Munddhar, commissioned 25 Kva transformers each at Draman, Julhant, Seena and Gurmul of Kastigarh, Lower Munddhar, Upper muddhar and Dhandal panchayats respectively.
These villagers which never saw electricity were seen rejoicing after their houses were illuminated with electricity.
These villages have been electrified under the Central Government’s nation-wide flagship programme ‘RGGY’ at a cost of about Rs 10 lakh each that included the cost of transformers, poles, wires, etc.
Addressing the villagers at these places, Ashok Kumar credited Ex- Chief Minister of the State and Union Health Minister, Ghulam Nabi Azad for getting sanctioned these projects from Union Government on his recommendations.
