BISHNAH, Sept 4: In the wake of flash floods that caused heavy damage in Bishnah constituency, a Janta Darbar was held today at the Block Development Office (BDO) Bishnah on the directions of Union Home Minister Amit Shah.
The programme was led by MLA Bishnah, Dr Rajeev Bhagat, to listen to people’s problems and review immediate relief measures.
A large number of locals attended the Darbar and highlighted losses to houses, livestock, and crops besides damage to infrastructure.
Officials including Tehsildar Bishnah, BDO Bishnah, AEE PWD, and the Executive Officer of Bishnah Municipality were present, along with representatives of different community bodies.
During the meeting, the MLA Bishnah directed officials of all departments to conduct a detailed assessment of damages so that every affected family is covered under relief.
He stressed that essential items like ration, tarpaulins, and other materials must be provided promptly and that no household should be left out.
His assurance drew appreciation from the people, who welcomed the open hearing as a positive step in difficult times.
Former sarpanches, councillors, and grassroots leaders also took part and expressed gratitude for the quick response.
They said the Janta Darbar had given people a direct platform to put forth their grievances and seek immediate action.
Volunteers from different departments assisted in recording damage reports and filling need-assessment forms.
The MLA announced that follow-up visits will be made in the coming weeks to monitor relief distribution and ensure accountability.
